Best hose reel ever [Posted on 2007-09-20]
This hose reel is the best one yet. I replaced an earlier one of the same make and model that lasted 13 years and several hail storms. Had to move its location but it was still servicable but several broken pieces due to hail. Would recommend this to any one that wants a mounted hose reel that will work for a long time.

Easy to install, well designed, works well. This is my second one, the first having succumbed after many years to the weight of 150 ft. of hose.

I'm Now Buying a Metal Hose Reel [Posted on 2007-10-05]
I've had two of these Ames Hose King units. The first lasted 10+ years and I was very satisfied, so I bought another. The second lasted less than two years and the right side upper bolt area totally cracked away. The same hose was used on both units, so there was no weight change. I'm disappointed. The part to fix this one is not available from Ames. So I've ordered a metal reel, also made by Ames. It costs more than twice as much, but hopefully this one will last.

I had one for about 12 years. It worked very well until the
plastic broke where it bolts to the wall. I ordered a new one
on line put it together and noticed it was made a little cheaper. It didn't seem to be made as strong as the one I had before. I have had the new one about five months. I came home one day and noticed it was hanging down off the front of the house. The plastic was split and broken in two of the bolt holes where it bolts to the wall.I'm very bummed out, It takes a lot of time to put these together. I won't be buying another one!

I had one of these for years, and was very pleased with it until it started leaking. The new one from Amazon also leaked. I returned it to Amazon a recieved a full no hastle refund. I called Ames and was sent a new part free. After installing it, I still had the same problem. There's something wrong with the O-Ring design in this reel. Not recommended.
