Poor assembly and finish [Posted on 2007-06-25]
This watering can arrived today, Monday, with 4 extra days of delay because UPS does nothing on weekends. If it had been sent via FedEx, the shipping charges would have been less, and I would have received the watering can last Wednesday or Thursday.

The can arrived with large dents in five different places that were not caused by shipping, but rather, it seems, it came out of the factory in that condition.

The galvanized coating was very poorly applied. The threads on the spout are filled so unevenly with the galvanized coating that the sprinkler head can't be screwed on so that the can won't leak below that sprinkler head. There are several places on the can where it has no galvanized coating.

In taking the plastic wrapped sprinkler head out of the inside of the can I sliced two fingers and the back of my hand on jagged slivers of tin coating that were sticking out around the rim. There were 12-15 other slivers of that coating on the can and handle that had to be sanded down so that my wife wouldn't cut or slice her hands when using it.

In general, the assembly and finish are really poor, and I personally would not have paid more than $5.00 to $6.00, with tax, for this item, minus the slivers, in a retail store.

This sub-standard item seems to have been manufactured in China or India, or was an American factory "seconds" or reject. I do not see how this product could have possibly passed even a cursory inspection.

I sent an e-mail to the company that I purchased this from the day I received it asking them how I could return this damaged and poorly made item. After two further e-mails to them, and four weeks time has passed, I still have not received a reply.
