I have had this product in service for over a year now and my rabbit vs bamboo problem is solved. I am going to buy 3 more units in a moment becauce I am expanding my planting and I am happy with past results. As with many things , follow the instructions and know what you are doing. RZ

I bought this item for a gift. I am not sure if it works. But reading and searching about this item claims that it does work. People were happy with it.

Not effective with dogs [Posted on 2008-02-18]
I bought this animal repeller to keep my neighbor's dog away of my back yard.
I tried different frequencies until the day the two dogs (boxers) came to sniff on the repeller and pee on it !

Over the past three years our property has been decimated by hungry rabbits. After two years of hit and miss with a live trap, I desperately (and skeptically)forked out the money to purchase the Bird-X YG Yard Gard Ultrasonic Animal and Pest Repellent. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well this product is working. I have seen only a couple of rabbits since I installed the unit. As a bonus, the many squirrels frequenting my bird feeder have also decided to look elsewhere. I am optimistic that I will have as much success keeping the raccoons out of our apple tree and off the roof later this summer.

So far I find that this is keeping raccoons away.. Two nights I didn't have it out and they dug around my yard looking for grubs. If it is out that doesn't happen and they haven't stolen any more tomatoes. So, it works and seems to work well.

My complaint and the ONLY reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 is that the on and off switch and all adjustments and batteries are inside the back cover which is a soft type plastic that fits over the housing. In order to mount this on a wall one has to mount with the holes in the back cover. PROBLEM is the back cover does not go back on the unit tightly. It is really difficult to get it on even half way and not enough to hang it off a wall. So if I want to turn the unit off and on (which I would like to do to save batteries during the day) I would have to fight that back cover.

I was ready to return both units I bought but due to the fact that it works so well I have managed to sit it on a box and get the cover on the top good so no moisture gets in...
