works great [Posted on 2008-08-03] The Alligator Lopper works great, it's safe, a time saver and continues in the fine name of Black and Decker.
As to the shipping, I got it in a timely manner with only one problem...the bar oil that came with the lopper had been squeezed out of it's bottle and was all over the inside of the package.
Other than that it's Great!
B & D ALLIGATOR LOPPER [Posted on 2008-08-05] this is a great product.it is easy to use and cuts tree limbs and brush very quickly
Black & Decker Alligator Lopper 4.5-AMP Electric Chain Saw #LP1000 [Posted on 2008-08-07] I gave this product a 4 (not 5) star rating. It has been a great help to me but it does have some of the drawbacks (getting clogged and jammed once in a while) mentioned in other reviews. I have bad limb damage, trees down and weed/brush around the edges of my yard that need to be cleared. Regular chain saws are great for cutting up the larger logs or dropping a weed tree. But regular chain saws are useless against the tangled, twisted mix of various sized limbs, twigs, and sticks. With the Alligator lopper tool, I can clamp a mass of wood of various sizes between the scissor-like jaws, turn on the power and close the jaws. All the various-sized pieces are cut off and fall to the ground. They can then be carried out or raked up. Doing this with a manual lopper would take 5 times as long. I appreciate the feature of being able to push one jaw under a branch that is lying on the ground and cut it off without having to prop it up. This Alligator tool is easy for me to manage -- easy to use the first time I turned it on.
No tool is perfect for all situations. The Alligator Lopper can be choked up if too many vines or flexible sticks manage to wind back into the chain drive area. Same as with any chain saw. Then one has to stop, disconnect and clear the tool before moving on. This is not difficult but just comes with the job of clearing brush.
The Alligator is just heavy enough that using it tires out my shoulders after a while.
I recommend the Alligator Lopper for chopping up brush and fallen limbs up to about 5 inches in diameter.
Great for Women [Posted on 2008-08-10] This is the best power tool I have. Makes yardwork a breeze and
is 'fun' to use. I'm 68 and have no problem using it.
Awesome Tool [Posted on 2008-08-11] This lopper does exactly what it is built for and does it very well. I have a couple of trees in my yard whose low branches were beating me up everytime I cut my grass. I've been paying to have them trimmed until I purchased this product. It paid for itself in one use.
