I recently purchased this lawn mower and was really impressed with how easy it is to use. I am a female who has tried a few times to use a gas powered lawn mower and after getting frustrated on even starting them, I was looking for an alternative. It starts easier than you can imagine and runs beatufully.
It is a little tricky getting used to the cord when you are turning around, but after my 3rd time, I feel like a pro.
Don't forget that you will need to have an extention cord because no cords are included.

The problem with this mower is its badly designed motor/drive-train. After mowing for a couple of months, I ran over some hard object that caused nasty shock to the blades. The result of this was that the motor housing was dislodged and the brushes did not align properly anymore with the contacts. Basically the misalignment was causing a partial short. Sparks and smoke coming out of the engine. So I took the motor apart and tried to realign the top of the housing so the brushes were aligned properly with the contacts. I discovered that it is practically impossible to get the proper alignment back. This is the first point of bad design: If you're going to design a mower whose armature is directly connected to the blades, why the f*&# do you design it so that the motor is so sensitive to even the slightest misalignment? And then why design a system that has about 0.5 inches of free play in the top of the motor housing?
I carelessly lost the receipt, so the store started giving me a song and a dance about returning it. So back I went with the mower. I took out the graphite brushes, filed the tips down to make sharper points (less sensitive to misalignment) put the motor back together. Aligned it as best I could. Problem solved! I just needed to take the brushes out once in a while and file off the edges. No more shorting.
Now, in it's second year of use, the motor of the mower has completely died. This time, one of the copper contacts on the armature broke off. As the motor conducted its final death spin, the broken contact destroyed the housing of both brushes. Motor is now useless! Second point of bad design: People, this is a MOWER, the motor should be able to take abuse, especially since as I mentioned above, the armature is connected directly to the cutting blades. How is it possible that the contacts break off? I see other one star reviewers who had the IDENTICAL problem!!

Have been using this lawnmower for over a month and have not had any problems with it at all. I want to thank the reviewer who advised to spray the blades with cooking spray, it keeps the grass from sticking, and works great.

As I expected, this lawn mower does what it is supposed to do right out of the box with no assembly required. It was delivered in a timely manner as promised and operates perfectly.
