After a few problems, it works as a decent power washer [Posted on 2008-06-28] I was in need of a power washer and saw this on Amazon, so figured I'd pick it up for the pretty decent price over an electric washer. The washer arrived and a week later I planned on cleaning my deck with it. Assembly instructions are downright TERRIBLE, and operating manual is downright TERRIBLE. Being an engineer, it was easy to figure out without the help of the manuals. Went and bought some 30 weight oil, some gas, filled the oil and gas as required, and started attaching the quick-connects. The plastic quick connects are TERRIBLE. When tightened securely by hand, the connections leaked like a sieve. When tightened further with tools, the threads stripped. Off to Lowes to pick up some brass connections and a male-to-female adapter for the part on the power washer.
Water connected, gas filled, oil filled, ready to go! Choke on, engine fired up, choke off, cleaning started. One minute later the unit stalls. Check everything again, all is ok. Started right up. 45 seconds later, engine stalls again. Check everything again, unit is level, fire it up again, start cleaning. About 2 minutes into cleaning I figured the engine just need to warm up, but then again, it stalled. This continues for the next half hour and I give up. Nothing in the manual solves my problems. All electrical connections look fine. Throttle, choke, air filter, etc. look fine. Can't figure out why it stalls.
I shoot off an email to Amazon and they rectified the situation to my satisfaction 100% with no issues. New unit arrives. I fill it with gas, fill it with oil, use the brass connections to hook up to hose, fire it up and it runs. I start cleaning, and 20 minutes later it is still running!
When the unit works, it works like a charm. I cleaned my siding, cleaned my deck, cleaned my walkways, etc. etc. The relief valve/plastic drain hose on the pump is too long and gets annoying, and the suction hose for cleaning solution is long and always gets loose, but I just wrap it around the pump housing and twisty tie it until I need to use it. Otherwise, if you get a unit that works, it's great! Just be weary if you think you'll need to rely on the manual for assembly and operation, and don't be surprised if you receive a dud like several other reviewers, including myself, received.
So far so good [Posted on 2008-06-30] I purchased this product as birthday gift for my boyfriend. He absolutely loved it. He immediately put it together, there was a bolt missing...and the instructions arent very good. I was confused but he forged on determined to get it working before we had to depart for dinner. Unfortunately he couldnt use it that evening because he had to buy a hose adapter to hook up to the machine. After all that he started it up with no problems and washed my car :) It took one pull to start it and one turn of the on/off switch to stop it. He couldnt be happier and neither could I. It cleans his dirt bikes really well and it will be better in the winter for that too instead of his hands freezing from the hose. I am very happy with this product.
Pleased with purchase [Posted on 2008-07-07] So far we are very pleased with the Blue Max pressure washer. Have used it several times with good results.
Great Power Washer [Posted on 2008-07-09] When I bought this washer I was not sure it would do what I needed.Well it is a great washer and not bad price. Was missing one little bolt, but that was not a problem.Would buy another one with out any problem.Am very pleased with it. Gene
you get what you pay for [Posted on 2008-07-13] somewhat weak at 2,200psi, and therefore slow. but adequate for light home use, as i had imagined. go the hardware store and find a replacement brass fitting to connect water supply hose to the pump, as the plastic fitting that comes with the unit lasted about five minutes in my case.
