It's flawed but does the job [Posted on 2007-12-15] I've got one of these that I use on my 1293 1/2 sheet sander and 1295 ROS. I use it in conjunction with the adaptor to an 1 1/4 vac hose. It does a far better job of collecting dust than when using the supplied cannister. In fact the only real dust that seems to escape is when you are sanding an edge.
My complaint is that Bosch doesn't make one of these for the North American market that doesn't require an adaptor to mate up to a 1 1/4 hose. Having to use an adapter just extends the arm of the lever and puts more strain on the clips.
Having said all that I'm going to order another one, with adaptor, so that I can leave one on each of my sanders and don't have to switch the vaccuum adaptor from one to another.
You Need an Adapter for this Adapter... [Posted on 2008-02-14] I'm very disappointed in Bosch for the design of this product. This "adapter" will not adapt to anything you have in your workshop, such as a standard 1-1/4" ShopVac hose. It adapts to 35mm. But worse, the product description that Bosch provides does not describe the product at all. No dimensions are given!
If I had *known* that I needed an adapter for this adapter, I would have ordered it at the same time, since the price is less than what it costs to ship. I was able to get this adapter to work by going to my local Woodcraft store and buying an inexpensive vac hose multi-adapter which has stepped diameters. (You just cut it to fit the two parts you're trying to mate.)
Bottom-line: Bosch should *include* a vac adapter with their sanders (I would rather pay a couple extra dollars), and that adapter should be appropriate for the market they're selling in (i.e., North America vs. Europe/Asia). Poor design, poor marketing. I would have thought Bosch could do better.
Why didn't it come with this in the first place? [Posted on 2008-04-02] I wish it came with the adapter in the first place! Dewalt had their built in, I hope Bosch changes theirs soon. Work fine, and it wasn't too expensive.
Works great. Too bad it isn't included with the sanders. [Posted on 2008-04-29] I bought this for use with my reconditioned Bosch random orbit sander, the 2-handed one for about $100. It works like magic. Without this, even with a high grade paper filter bag, the dust escapes from the side of the sanding disc. With this, NO dust escapes from my shop vac. As a matter of fact, I have to use settings 4-6 on the sander. The suction is so strong, it sucks the sander down to the workpiece and slows the sander down a bit. It works as advertised. Do lubricate the O-ring with a little oil from the side of your nose, and it isn't such a tight fit.
Bosh RS006 Vacuum Adapter [Posted on 2008-06-19] Perfect fit for my Orbital Sander. I use it all the time now when I sand to help cut down the dust that normally goes everywhere. The nice part is I can even use it with my portabe dewalt shop vac when I am at customers houses doing work so I don't have to bring my large shop vac.
