From what I can make of it this particular item points down. It may come in useful if you find yourself covered in a skiing avalanche type situation. Lets face it if you are covered with 20' of snow you got no idea which way is up. This thing gave me an idea for extreme snow boarders & skiers, and extreme weather hikers. Why not build a telescoping snorkel type device. Once you find yourself covered figure out which way is down, pull out your snorkel and extend it upward until it pokes out of the snow, and then start pulling breaths of fresh air. Make sure you have your cell phone with you so emergency responders can triangulate in on you with cell towers.
