Outstanding Kit [Posted on 2005-08-09]
Traveling out to client location and installing cabinets and fixtures, this is a must have kit...It is amazing what power these items have.

Heavy Duty Durable Tools [Posted on 2005-08-30]
This is an outstanding kit. I had a Dewalt 18v drill and needed a rip saw and circular saw, but at $200 -$250 each it just made sense to get this kit for $599 w/ free shipping. Plus the rebate for a free tool, which I ordered the jigsaw. I did debate getting the Craftsman or Rigid kit for about half the price. So what sold me on DeWalt? I noticed during a NASCAR race, after a mutli-car wreck, that several teams were using the DeWalt 18v Reciprocating Saw cutting away fenders! I didn't see anyone using Craftsman, Rigid, or Bosch?

I started using the kit immediately. The first project was a double tier floating deck at about 600 sq ft:

Rip saw with a 9" blade went thru 6x6 treated posts with little effort.

Hammer drill drove about 500-600 deck screws quick and controlled. It also went thru the concrete without hesitation.

Circular saw is great as well, trimmed deck boards, cut angles on the posts, and portability is so nice when you don't have to worry with cords.

Cut off tool is wonderful; I usually had to use the torch but it was always a hassle getting the tank moved around to the job, but I walked my fence row a trimmed 15 tension bars in about 8-9 mins.

Only down side was the XRP batteries held up for 2 posts on the rip saw and then it was dead. The drill and circular saw did what I expected as far as lifetime. The only thing that I did not like was the Hot/Cold feature on the charger. I had an older battery that this feature never affected, but the new XRP batteries seemed to always set this off. The manual says it helps extend the overall battery life, but this needs to be remembered if you only have a couple of batteries. When this "Feature" is on the batteries DO NOT charge! So the quick 1 hour charge they advertise now takes 2-3 hours (1-2 hours for the "Cool Down" and an hour to charge it).

Tools did an amazing job. Overall I am VERY satisfied and will continue to buy DeWalt.

Finally! [Posted on 2006-03-15]
Been using the 18V DeWalt tools on the job where we put them through hell. Yes, we smoked some drills and fried some batteries but the tools went down fighting. Been watching the sales at Lowe's & HD hoping to finally get myself a good set of cordless tools for the house. I have to tell you, this kit at this price on Amazon....well, I couldn't match it anywhere else. I don't know how they do it but Amazon always seems to have what I'm looking for at very attractive pricing. Anyway, I finally have a kit that has everything I wanted and more. You'll wonder how you lived without a right angle drill. Only complaint is that the portable light is pretty much a waste - would have preferred a jigsaw. I know folks have complained about the 18V batteries not lasting but I've never had that problem. Just wish they weren't so expensive to replace when they do finally die.

Awesome tools at the best price anywhere! [Posted on 2006-09-19]
I always liked DeWalt tools and have been wanting a set of my own. I used to use them when I worked with a landscaper, building decks and such so I knew how they worked. The problem is that nice things cost money so they were outta my price range for awhile. Thanks to Aamzon, I have 6 very usefull tools for far less then I could have imagined. My wife had actually bought me the 4 piece (DC4KIT-A) at one of those home improvement stores and payed MORE then we paid for this set. Needless to say that we returned that 4 piece and I got this one from AMAZON and actually saved money. I used AMAZON's free shipping and still got my tools in only 9 days. Thanks AMAZON!

As for the tools? the hammer drill has power enough to punch through quarter inch steel in seconds! I was a skeptic of the circular saw, but after building my wife some shelves in the garage out of 2x4's and 3/4" plywood I am a believer. It cut through every thing with ease without wearing out the battery too quickly. The recipricating saw has so much power and so many uses that I don't know where to begin sharing them all. Same goes for the cutting tool which I also use as a sharpener for my mower blade and gardening tools. The right angle drill was the tool that I was least excited about getting but I am now so glad that I have it. Comes in real handy for quick projects all over the house that don't require alot of heavy duty drilling. The light is quite handy when no one is around to hold a flashlight for you while you try to work on your garbage disposal or are wrenching away under your truck! My only concern is that two batteries don't really seem to be enough for this set. I think it should coms with at least three. But that has nothing to do with how well the tools work or how long the batteries last so I still rate this set at 5 stars. As well priced as DeWalt tools and accessories are on AMAZON, I will have no trouble expanding the amount of batteries that I need for this great collection.

What An Awesome Tool Kit !!! [Posted on 2006-10-08]
I have always been a fan of DeWalt power tools...especially for their durability and reliability. I recently started pricing a 4 piece 18 volt set for about 499 bucks...then I saw this 6 piece set for the same price and didn't hesitate a minute to purchase this item. The price was the cheapest I've found. Easily beat Home Depot and other home improvement stores by 50 bucks, plus no shipping or tax. Used this set to hang drywall in my garage, frame up a treehouse, work on a couple projects for some family members, and other projects with no problems at all. I really love not having to drag extension cords all over job sites. Would recommend for anybody. Will definitely use this set for all projects.
