Perfect size, big power [Posted on 2007-10-26] Of all the drills out there this one is a steal at 119.00. Being a home owner most of my projects take 2 or 3 hours. This drill packs enough power and run time to do the job. Backed by the Dewalt name this drill is perfect, 1 hour charge time too.
Balanced, Great Screwing [Posted on 2008-06-03] I love this cordless drill. It is well balanced and feels great in the hand. It will operate for quite a while witout needing to switch the battery. It has two speeds. The low speed is great for driving screws and the trigger gives great control over the speed of the screw so you can control the acceleration and the deceleration to smoothly drive a screw the exact depth desired. The high speed is good for drilling, though I do end up switching to corded drilled for anything large, extra hard, or for extended durations of drilling since I worry about over working or wearing out my favorite cordless drill. I like this drill so much that I bought a second one.

Nice well balanced drill [Posted on 2008-08-13] This is my third purchaase of this drill. The originals are used for a very light comercial application, they are used a lot, but on the lowest torque setting to drive screws.
Honestly, for 'HEAVY DUTY DRILLING' do yourself a favor and buy a corded drill - a B&D 'HOLEGUN' is still my favorite - that said this is still a VERY good heavy duty screwdriver / medium duty drill.
I like them however this one was only bought because we need new batteries and the cost of two batteries is almost the same as the total kit - so I figgured why not get a "free" backup drill!
This item lost a star because in my opinion the batteries have too short a usable lifetime, in spite of there being two included in the kit.
I hope this helps somebody.
It's not all about the voltage - This is a beast [Posted on 2008-08-22] Bought this drill on sale at a large home improvement store for about the Amazon price. Nowadays everybody talks about the "voltage" implying more is always better. Whats next? 48 volts? Come on.
I considered the 18 volt version but let common sense prevail and got the 12 volt unit. My objective was a good, solid, powerful drill for general usage around the house. I wanted something I could manipulate easily and which didn't have a humungous battery getting in the way. I can tell you this 12 volt drill is a beast. I'm a serious woodworker and home repair type of guy and this drill is perfect without the ridiculous size of the higher voltage types. Nice balance in your hand so you'll feel comfortable grabbing it for many jobs.
The charger is fast and the batteries last a long time between charges.
Don't get sucked into the voltage hype. Buy this 12 volt unit without hesitation.
