Customer Reviews:

predictable and durable [Posted on 2003-12-14]
Purchased the DW130 spade drill for mixing applications. I do everything from stucco, drywall, cement, plaster... ect. Great drill for all types of mixing. There are some drills in the industry for one or two specific applications, this drill is one of them.

Low torque, strong motor, perfect for the professional. If you are going to expect this drill to do all types of drilling (wood, cement, ect...) I would consider a different drill.

superduty drill [Posted on 2004-08-11]
I build houses out of autoclaved aerated concrete. See www.safecrete.com for more on that. I use this drill to mix the thin-set mortar in 5 gallon buckets and to drill 3-4" holes through the solid aerated concrete blocks. This is the only drill for me. I have two, one for mixing and one for drilling, that way I never have to change them out and can have different tasks going at the same time. I recommend to all our new homeowners who want to do it theirself that they get one of these drills.
This drill is designed for serious power. The applications I have will burn up the best variable speed drill in a day. This drill is so strong it is dangerous. I have seen my drill put two guys teeth through their lips, one being my own. I was drilling through a concrete wall and ran into some rebar, ouch. One time I was drilling through a block and hit some steel and it jerked it out of my hands and the trigger was locked. It kept spinning until it pulled the power cord right out of the drill. Never use the trigger lock, it can get you hurt.
This drill is fairly heavy, it needs to be. If you want a drill for screwing buy a variable speed drill, this is not the one for you. There is nothing wrong with the drill. You just have to know what you need. If you need serious strength and toughness, this is the drill for you.

DeWALT now makes the DW130v [Posted on 2005-08-29]
So, I see no need for this drill when the DW130v is the same price. About the same drill with variable speed, 9 amps, 0-550 rpm. Great for mixing or chasing the old lady around the house with.

very durable [Posted on 2005-11-21]
I am a ceramic tile installer and this was my first tool. I bought it six years ago and it has lasted until this past september. I have mixed thousands of 5 gallon buckets worth of thinset mortar, wall mud, and drypack mortar with this tool. It was built correctly and has one purpose and does it well. Excellent tool, period.

Heavy Duty [Posted on 2006-10-28]
My dad and I put the Dewalt DW130 to use recently building a timber frame shed. We used Timberlinx as the primary connector so the drill was called upon for nearly every single joint.

Tough tool.
