Cousin installed it in about fifteen minutes, works great, really like the seperate power, so that saw doesn't have to start to get a laser on material.

Works as described. A little difficult to set up. Good for a relatively close cut, but if you want on the money cuts, cut a tad long and make you final cut adjustments with personal craftsman-like skills.

First, let me preface by saying I am a homeowner and use this saw attachment for my personal use and not in any commercial applications. I read all the reveiws and figured that if it were as bad as people here say it is, then I would just take it back for a refund; no harm, no foul. Now, maybe it's just me, but I found adjustment to be pretty straight forward. Yes, it took a little time to do, but it was a fun activity to play with as I set it up. There's a great video on DeWalt's site to show even the uneducated (read; contractor) how to do this RIGHT, although the manual was as helpful and accurate as any manual I've ever read to set up something like this. Really folks; if you have trouble getting this laser to work right, you probably shouldn't be playing with the likes of a miter saw, or any power tool for that matter, to begin with. It's not rocket science and with a few adjustments, it's pretty easy to see what does what. After about 10 minutes playing with it, I deliberately messed up the settings to see how fast I could get it set up true again. Less than a minute. Yes, it's that easy. If you think about what's happening with the light beam, it's gonna be easy to set up. I even tried to bang my saw around and could not get it to come uncalibrated.
In my opinion, use this accessory to see if you are safe enough to use the saw without hurting yourself. If you can't set this devise up successfully, find someone else to make your cuts for you before you chop off a finger or worse.

Not difficult to adjust, once you practice a little. But the laser won't STAY adjusted! All it takes to throw it out of line is a little semi-rough handling of the saw. Every time I move the saw or put it away the laser is useless the next time I use it unless I adjust it again.

There's a lot of potential here, but if it won't stay stable, that pretty much blows the entire value. It's hard to justify 2 or more stars when you're not getting any use at all out of the product.

I really have no idea why they gave it "soft" adjustments with set screws working against springs -- shouldn't it be tight two-way set screws that won't move except when you turn them? And no springs? Honestly, this laser goes out of adjustment if you so much as slap it on the side with your hand. Case closed.

The reviews for this have not been very good. I think that it is because these people are idiots. Obviously they do not know what they are doing when it comes to reading and following instructions, I put this guide on my Dewalt 10 inch sliding miter saw and ajusted it according to the instructions. this tool is awesome. I have had no problems with it.
