A GREAT RADIO! [Posted on 2007-04-21] This DeWalt radio is an excellent product, as is all of my Dewalt tools and accessories. The sound clarity is unbelieveable, even when being used in remote areas. The price is standard with other sellers in the St. Louis area, but shopping on the internet is easier!
great radio [Posted on 2007-05-14] My husband uses this at work and had his ipod hooked to it so that he can hear any song he wants to. This is a great product and I will recommend it to anyone.
Sound quality is only adequate... if i had bought it i would be disappointed [Posted on 2007-05-23] 1. I won this at a golf outing, so i was all excited....
2. Found out it doesnt come with the battery, battery itself was 90.00 extra dollars.
3. Pretty cool for a rechargable boom box, even has the input for my mp3 player, had to buy a 5.00 cord to use it though.
4. Sound quality is average at best, no treble, don't buy this if you expect accurate sound reproduction. absolutely no way to adjust the sound of this
5. If you want to charge your dewalt batteries, and don't have high standards for sound quality you will probably like it.
6. also? why would you not bother putting a cd player in this? when it comes with a hard case for your CD's? this makes no sense at all.
Overall I like the idea of an industrial rechargable battery boombox with the ablity to charge my batteries, but if i would've paid full price for this (129.98 at home depot yesterday) I would be majorly disappointed.
If they added a battery, cd player, included the mp3 cable and improved the quality of the speakers i would probably change my mind...even if they did increase the cost a little.. but as it is... i am a bit disappointed..
Why use anything else? [Posted on 2007-12-08] I tried buying the cheap radios to keep music going during my projects. They didn't come in well or quit working due to the less than ideal environmental conditions associated with construction. The DeWalt not only handles abuse but charges your batteries at the same time!
Needs redesign [Posted on 2007-12-24] I purchased this unit in June '07 after first buying the Bosch unit first. I returned the Bosch because I didn't have any cordless tools from them. The sound from the Bosch was so so but way better than this thing. I bought this unit because I have many Dewalt cordless tools and could us a charger/radio combo. The charger works excellent but the radio is horrible,no lows and flat tinny highs. Honestly a $20 boombox sounds better. The Milwaukee version sounds way better but does not charge. I don't care about not having a cd player on a radio thats gonna get knocked around anyway but Dewalt could have done better soundwise for this price and the size of the unit. The problems people had with 50 hr discharge doesn't effect this unit with new yellowtop batteries. I leave my radio unplugged with the battery for a month and it still plays for a few hours.
