Nice tool but could be better [Posted on 2000-09-19] I really like my saw...now. When I bought it, I liked it until I discovered it has a little play in the armature. This resulted in a few innacurate cuts. Now that I understand my tool (like any machine), I love it. Next time, I will find a saw with no play...
Very portable - use it several times per month [Posted on 2001-01-02] I have had this saw about 2 years - cutting mainly 2x4 and 4x4 treated lumber to install ramps at homes. I like the light weight and compact size. Things I would change if I could - dust collection dumps into cover over back hinge, eventually limiting the height that the blade can be raised. The price and weight are right on. The 13 amp motor is adequate.
An excellent saw [Posted on 2001-12-06] For a midpriced compound miter, this saw is an excellent choice! Solid, stable and accurate cuts all around. Plenty of power and lots of capability. A really good saw.
Not bad for small jobs... [Posted on 2002-03-06] I got this one because it's small enough to take to job sites, but it's not big enough to do the vigorous cross-cutting in my workship -- max stock width is 6" (nominal). Unless you're going to lug it around, go with a sliding 10 or better 12" saw. Other than that, I love the saw. Quality is very good...
Great saw [Posted on 2002-06-09] I purchased this saw about a year ago. The saw has performed great. The only reason I did not rate this saw a 5 is that changing the blade is a pain in the you know what. The small spring inside the blade gaurd is difficult to line up when reassembling after changing the blade. But the saw performed great right out of the box. It was very accurate. I do not have an extention table yet, I'm kind of cheap that way but I will be setting it up in a table system I have seen on The New Yankee Work Shop. I think you will like the saw very much. When this one is worn out I will buy the compound sliding miter saw next, but if not that one I would buy this one again.
