Easy to install. [Posted on 2005-02-19] It took about three minutes to pull off two torx screws, two phillips screws, hold the adapter in place, and put the four screws back in. I then folded the wings on the sides with a rubber mallet and this seems to have sealed it well. My only gripe is that it should have something akin to weather stripping to seal it though it's adequate as delivered.
works, but keeps jointer from sitting flat [Posted on 2007-01-12] The dust adapter works as described. They fail to mention, however, that it extends below tabletop level somewhat, so the jointer must be placed at the edge of the bench so the adapter can hang over. This also makes it hard to store the jointer on a shelf, or the floor. What were they thinking?
Works great! [Posted on 2007-03-26] Easy to install, works great with my dust collection system. It only extends below the jointer if you install it upside down!
Good product but a bit rough [Posted on 2008-01-22] There are two ways to install this, as other reviewers have noted. I elected to install mine so that the chute didn't extend below the tabletop. The screw holes were a little off position, but it went together all right. I don't know why the product has the little wings extending about 1.2 inch to each side, unless the designer wanted me to bend them down around the sides (another reviewer did that). The way the product is listed is confusing, because the jointer I have is the JT160, not the 37-070. Go figure. The finish on this adapter is good. Also, the product description doesn't say that this adapter is made of steel, not plastic, which to me is a plus. Considering the amount of shavings my jointer puts out, this item, and some kind of dust collector, are mandatory.
works great once installed [Posted on 2008-06-12] Installation wasn't easy as the two upper bolt holes were way off. I also tried installing it upside down, but had the same problem. Since it is made of sheet metal I used a rattail file to elongate the holes. Eventually it installed. I also used weather stripping along the sides connecting to the tabs. Hooked it to a shop vacuum and it works great. No loose dust at all.
