Variable speed scroll saw- Delta SM600 [Posted on 2008-01-20] Appears awesome in quality for excellent price. Others recommend oiling & changing to a better branded blade before use. I've used an earlier model that did everything I wanted, with very good smooth-cutting results.
Pretty good for the price! [Posted on 2008-02-08]
My husband and I bought this saw because we are Cub Scout den leaders and thought it would be great for cutting out pinewood derby cars. We were right! It was just the thing.
It does have a bit of wiggle, but when properly anchored on a sturdy surface it is not abig deal...
I know we will find more uses for this saw, but for now we are glad to have it for making derby cars!
Good for the money [Posted on 2008-02-08] A very heavy (can't believe Amazon can include shipping)clunky (requires many adjustments) type saw (my first scroll) that easily cuts tight patterns in wood that other saws can't. It is obviously budget priced so it is hard to be overly critical of the somewhat crude design. My lower arm connection to the cam came off after just a few minutes of use. No troubleshooting guide for this. After taking switch housing off it was obvious the screw was never tightened. Overall good for the money.
Our fun machine [Posted on 2008-02-18] My husband has sure enjoyed this new Delta Scroll Saw. He had a craftsman but did not like how the sawblade had to be tightened, or when he had to loosen the blade when changing sections on his pattern. It was always giving him a fit.
This Delta is so much eaisier to use. Snap the blade loose & snap it back when he is ready to go again. He is having trouble, when the blade is put in, he told me he gets what he calls whip blade,(what ever that is) It whips the blades where the craftsman did not. So he is fiquring out how to cut his work with this problem. He likes the way you don't have to fool around when securing the blade when untighting and tighting it. ITS SO EASY with no problems.
A 100.00 for this product is well worth the money as he has been enjoying scrolling since he has had no trouble messing with problems with securing blades that keep coming off when you don't put them in just right. Machines are easier to use when you don't have to fight them because of technology.
A real buzzy saw [Posted on 2008-04-15] I love the unit. It works very fast and was easy to assemble and even easier to change blades. I still have some way to go but it is great.
Watch out for who supplier is though, Geroy's shipped mine quickly but it was flawed, rubber grommit bad in front. Not a big Item but they have yet to replace it with another one. I think that stinks and is poor business on a new unit.
