A Good Solid Tool [Posted on 2005-08-16] I am new to using a Scroll Saw. Setting up the saw was not too difficult and it is a substantial piece of equiptment. I have only had a little time to work with the saw but it works well.
delta ss250 16" scroll saw [Posted on 2006-01-29] the blower didn't work. hose was kinked.
after a short test run I decided to open up the side panel, I noticed a small pile of metal filings. I took the top and bottom pivit bolts out to oil them, they had never been oiled. the bottom bearing was worn. I oiled the pivit points, seems to work alright, don't know for how long..................
entry level saw [Posted on 2006-02-17] I don't have much experience with scroll saw but this one is not for serious scroll saw work. Good for just light duty and not very intricated work.
Great price - functional machine lacks precision [Posted on 2006-03-24] You can't beat the price.
You could improve the quality.
However, not bad for a starter scroll saw. This saw gets the job done, as long as you are not expecting high precision.
Two gripes:
1.unacceptable high level of vibration at higher speeds for any kind of precision cutting(perfectly acceptable at slower speeds)
2.misalignment of blade locks cause blade to shift slightly from side to side as it goes up and down. Can't seem to figure out how to adjust. From other reviews, I don't think Delta support will be much help.
Otherwise, it works just fine for my needs. This is a case of 'you get what you pay for'.
What a lemon [Posted on 2007-05-15] I just picked this saw up 2 nights ago. Assembly was fairly simple and the price was right at $79. Before I ever even tried to fire it up, the lower nut that holds the bottom of the blade snapped in half while tighenting it. I replaced it with a wing nut temporarily. When I finally turned the saw on the blade speed was wandering all over the place. I turned the speed all the way down and tried again, but the same thing keeps happening. It will start out slow then jump to full speed, back and forth. I normally am very happy with Delta but this thing is a pile of garbage. Back to the store with it.
