Customer Reviews:

Decent quality set. [Posted on 2007-07-30]
In conjunction with a magazine like Make MAKE: Technology on Your Time, this is a handy little tool set with a nice variety of tools that can assist with building electronic gizmos, putting together kits, and fixing minor problems here and there.

The drivers are all built of a hard enough material that teeth withstand a reasonable amount of tightening. Each driver fits within the appropriate type of screw or bolt without a wide gap of space which contributes to warping. The handles could have been designed with a larger diameter grip but they work well enough for finger tightening.

The pliers/snippers, despite being randomly located in the case despite labeling, are all fairly well constructed. The metal appears to be too soft for some electronic work above a certain gauge but for general cutting, splicing, and wiring they work well.

The cutting blades and handle all do the job but the twist-tighten blade locks allow for some play on the blades and will loosen with use. There is a nice assortment of blades that can be used for working with wood, plastic, and foam. Fortunately these blades are available in craft shops and hardware stores.

The cases are very basic and the inner lining is made from a flexible plastic that is easily torn. Personally, I dislike having a bunch of these cases and have just put the entire set into a tool box for electronics projects. Fortunately I'm not one to just throw something away and have figured out a few alternative uses for the cases.

All in all, this is a fairly good value but I doubt Denali is actually who manufactured it as the styling and build quality is consistent with a few other precision tool kits priced just slightly higher than this set.

3 stars, more like 3 1/2 ... The plier set is worth the money ... [Posted on 2008-04-07]
The precision screwdriver set in this kit is an improvement of the one in the Denali 52 piece screwdriver set.

The main attraction of this kit is the six piece plier set. Those are indispensible for fine work: modeling, small electronics repair, ever small Bonsai (for those who don't know, copper wire is often used to train the branches of specimens).

Xcelite (among others) makes premium pliers sets - at a premium price, too. Exacto makes better blade handes. But for the money, this kit ain't half bad.

Great set and worth the money, but... [Posted on 2008-05-06]
This is a great tool set, but in my opinion, it would be better if the knives were a separate kit. I like the knives, but I just don't think they belong in this set.

The screw drivers are my absolute favorites! The biggest problem I have run into with small screw drivers is small handles. If you own a set of Radio Shack precision screw drivers, you know what I mean. With the small handles, it is difficult to get enough downward pressure and still turn the handle to break loose a screw without stripping the head. The Denali screw drivers have a handle nearly as large as a standard screw driver. The first time I used them was for removing a laptop hard drive. It was the easiest I have ever worked with. If you need small screw drivers, don't look any farther, these are the ones you want!

The pliers and wire cutters are well made and will be perfect for the kind of work I do (computer repair). These are not heavy duty; they are made for light work. As long as you are using them for what they are made for, they look like they will hold up very well.

Don't get me wrong, the knives are nice. They have a very good grip and are easy enough to work with. They also have a great set of blades included. For me, I just don't have a lot of use for them.

All three sets of tools come in their own semi-rigid zipper cases. The cases keep the tools very well organized and they have enough elastic bands that they will not slip out easily. When you open the case, the tools are where you left them.

As far as precision tools go, this is a great set and worth the money.
