everyone should have one [Posted on 2006-10-17] well, maybe not this exact kit. i didnt give it a 5 simply because if used very hard,,it will heat up and i doubt thats good for it. i have smelled it a few times,,and i dont use it often or for very extreem tasks.
i think ill keep it. though ill probly get a air tool to do the serious stuff.(but the noise,,,sheeesh) who would want to sharpen their lawnmower with this tool?? can it do the job?? i guess so. but you'd probly kill it doing so. i bought a diamond cutter, cutoff wheel, impregnated with diamonds. its about 1.5" round. i about killed the tool cutting off the ends of 4 sheet rock screws. the thing was very hot and maybe smoking.i dont know for sure,as it was dusty as well. but the way it smelled,,, i dont think id do it every day.
if you keep in mind what its for (hard core crafting, but not like,a tool in the garage),and NOT over work it.. youll most likly be all set.
a lil polishing job here or an engraving there, routing the edge of a picture frame,,maybe make a sign for the house number,,,, thats all well and good. but push it a bit,,and its just not tough enough for that .
now that i have it,,i use it now and then, and when i reach for it,,im glad its there.
i also have a ton of the extra burs, and stones,,and other little tools that go with it. im looking into a few of the carbide all steel burs, instead of the stone burs. for removing wood for small carvings. i think it will be fine for that job.
have fun,
~R~
