This weed trimmer works very well. The bumping mechanism is very nice also.

My husband used this on our front yard - because we have a lot of rocky terrain, we can not use a traditional lawn mower. obviously, the yard isn't that big (hence the electric trimmer, instead of gas). i wanted the thing mainly to be environmentally aware (no gas) and because it's not as noisy. well, the first time he used it, it started to smoke after about 20 minutes and that was the last time it worked. so now (sigh) we're going to a gas trimmer that i hope will be more reliable than this one. i suppose you get what you pay for, although it seems that there are some who have been pleased with this item. Good for them!

The trimmer broke the first time I tried it. (I'd used a similar model for 10 years, so I'm not an amateur with these things.) I contacted the seller -- Home and Beyond -- about the problem and got no response.

Eco Friendly-er [Posted on 2007-08-13]
This product works impressively well considering it is battery operated. No long electrical cords to fuss with, and no trips to the gas station for more petro. It does come with a spare battery, but I have almost half an acre to keep trimmed and having one extra charger and battery would be ideal (for a total of 3 batteries and 2 chargers) to complete that amount in the same yard mowing time. It's also well constructed and the edger feature works great. I don't think you'll be dissapointed for the price.
