Don't Purchase [Posted on 2006-09-20] I purchased this item on sale for $49.99. When I received the item I was excited to open the case. To my surprise the drill was in horrible condition. The drill looked like it had been put through the test of several general contractors. Worse of all, the drill, batteries, charger, and flash light were all engraved with someone's initials. I would send this item back if shipping were free. I have purchased reconditioned items before and have never encountered this.
Great drill...Great price... [Posted on 2006-09-22] I almost bought this same package at a local major tool retailer for $129...glad I didn't. Great deal for $49 bucks refurb'd! The reviewer below mentioned someone's initials being inscribed into his refurbished unit...I believe that initial is "R" for "refurbished" (mine had the same thing). Guess it didn't rock my world as much since my first name begins with an "R." Hitachi makes a great product that hangs with the best and blows B&D away. A sleek, lightweight and very well made drill. The flashlight is nifty too.
handy but weak [Posted on 2006-11-19] the ergonomics of this d/d are superior to either the porter-cable or dewalt that i have owned & the price is a lot less. however, if you want to actually do some work, get something else. the hitachi 18v, 1.4 amp hour battery is the weakest i have ever seen. it drives great for a very short period. requires recharging so frequently you really need more than 2 batteries. my porter-cable 12v has far superior capacities. great tool for household handyman use.
poor for price [Posted on 2006-11-29] item ran slower in one direction correct speed in other?
not worth money, new cost $99.when you consider you loose $10. or so to ship back.
