Only 12 Volts, I do not believe it [Posted on 2000-03-02] As a former carpenter who used my tools to pay my way through college, I have owned and worn out more good tools than I want to think about. With the recent demise of my B&D commercial corded drill, I decided that I only wanted to buy one more drill (unless, at my option, I convince myself in the future that I really need another). I bought the Fein based on the company's reputation for quality and longevity, and have been using it for some rather heavy remodeling I am doing to my house. I have been blown away by the performance of this drill. Classic Teutonic, like my BMW. No bit, screw or hole saw has slowed it down, the dual battery locations are much more useful than I imagined when I bought the Fein, and the speed control is prescise. How they got this much power and control in such as reasonably sized 12 volt package, I will never know. If you can stomach the price, stop your search. You can save money with another drill now, but you will not find this quality anywhere else.
Finally some quality !! [Posted on 2000-08-12] I purchased this drill kit about a month ago and have not finished putting it thru it's paces- but, it has outperformed my B&D 12v, and my old standby Sunbeam (1958). Fein has the ability to develop torque after the others give-up.(especially handy with the 1/2in capacity chuck). This drill is well balanced and the dual position battery lets you work in closer places. A "remote" battery extension cord would be a nice accessory. I am still not used to the reverse switch location - but learning. The instruction book is less than great - but the carrybox is magnificent. A lifetime purchase for a homeowner/hobbyist. Even the service agency in Pittsburgh seems above average -'tho not tested yet!
