Fiskars 62-Inch Pruning Stik #9234 [Posted on 2008-04-13] It finally got nice enought outside for me to get to use the Fiskars 62-Inch Pruning Stik. They are GREAT, I didn't have to pull out the ladder, I just stood there and pruned what need to be done. They let you adjust the head so you can reach up there and cut what ever branch you need to prune. They are light weight so when you are holding them up over your head, the don't knock you off balance. or make your arms hurt. I know I'll be using them alot. Thank you . Deb D in Connecticut
Best pole pruner available [Posted on 2008-04-22] This is my second having destroyed the first through overzealous use cutting through wider than recommended branches. I'm the first to admit I gave my first pruner a really hard work out. I used it to clear blackberry on a steep hillside. Without it would have been one of those jobs you walk away from. With it I tackled the canes from the base and literally whacked the cut canes out of my way.
Yes, tools do last a whole lot longer if you're nice to them. However it wasn't the blackberry that killed it. It was metal fatigue on the cutting head. That part is easily enough replaced but before I knew that I recycled it.
Overall it's safer to use this tool to avoid scratches, gouges and scrapes than to use shorter handled loppers. It has great use of leverage so you really can cut through tough branches with relative ease.
I strongly recommend this pruner and the larger Fiskars. I have both and have used them to very good effect on my 5 acres.
Gardening must-have [Posted on 2008-05-15] This tool is absolutely essential for yard work. It handles pruning like a pro and is easy to use. I have arthritis so my hands are not particulary agile or strong. With this tool, they don't need to be. I love it!
Had to buy 3 [Posted on 2008-06-19] This is my third purchase as my first two went to my relatives and I didn't have the heart to take them back from their obviously needy users.
It is so light and handy that it is my tool of choice for 90% of the trimming in the yard.
I have large loppers and extension pruners but they are only needed on special jobs.
If my third pruner gets away from me, I will have to buy a fourth but I am not advertising this one to friends and neighbors.
Fiskars 62" Pruner [Posted on 2008-07-06] This product is excellant in all respects. It is well made, sharp, and cuts easily through branches up to 1.5 inches. But it is limited to branches within its 5 foot reach. It is therefore desirable to also have Fiskars telescoping pruner, which is the best that I have ever used.
