Outstanding [Posted on 2007-04-03] This saw has rigid construction, very sturdy and heavy duty. I am very impressed. Will buy GMC tools again.
Many features...less than stellar quality [Posted on 2007-05-12] While this saw boasts all the features one could ask for, the quality is lacking in areas that affect the accuracy of cuts and the operation. Typical of poor quality Chinese tools, the castings do not line up accurately, making some of them unusable (such as the right side fence). There are bolt holes without bolts. The miter lock is easily bumped off it's setting. The alloy metal housing is soft like plastic. The laser worked for about 2 minutes. Other than these annoyances, this is a lot of saw for the money. Remove the supplied blade and install a good quality 60 tooth miter saw blade. Buy this saw very cheaply, or you won't like it.
compound miter saw with laser [Posted on 2007-05-19] the saw was as advertised, new in the box, and just what I need for my work. the added laser speeds up the cutting process.
A good saw [Posted on 2007-06-27] For the price, the GMC sliding miter saw is a good saw. Not hard to adjust and the one I purchased has a lazer that works just fine. I've cut a lot of 1x8 T&G with no problems whatsoever.
It's a big saw, and using it with a miter saw stand makes a big big difference!
The blade that comes with the saw is a 24 tooth and will work for rough work, but I suggest you buy a better blade.
I rated it a four (4) because the slider bars seem to get dirty fairly easy.
GMC Slider Miter [Posted on 2008-04-20] I purchased this Slider Miter for $89. It took me awhile to fine adjust it for correct and straight cuts but it cuts just fine. For the price it paid for itself on one personal home job I did myself. This is definatley not a Dewalt but for the basic home project this a great addition for the money. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase it again!!
