You get what you pay for [Posted on 2001-06-23] This tool is just not accurate enough for woodworking. If you want to make acurate miters, bevels, etc., you're going to have to bite the bullet and buy a much more expensive tool. We're talking a hunderd bucks more expensive. If you need a protractor for lower precision work, like framing, splurge and get one that isn't made of plastic. If this thing cost any more it would have only gotten one star.
General Tools 29 Plastic Protractor - Not great [Posted on 2004-06-15] I agree with "You get what you pay for". You have to be fiddle just to make sure the arms are flush against your workpiece, and then spend time second-guessing the reading that you see. The size of this protractor is convenient, and it's easy to adapt from inner to outer angles, but again, it's just too cheap to be used for serious woodworking. After 12 cuts trying to achieve a perfect 30 degree angle, I'm going to look for something a little more (hopefully a LOT more) reliable, and pay the $ for it!
Accurate, inexpensive, easy to use! [Posted on 2008-08-22] We use these tools on several benches in our professional wood working shop and found them to be very accurate. Naturally, like the rest of our equipment we check for proper calibration often.
