Gilmour Brass Connector

Pros:

- Relatively inexpensive.

- Rustproof materials.

Cons:

- Water flow is greatly restricted by the ball valve's 5/16" hole diameter. Using this device reduces the effective inside diameter of a connected garden hose, to 5/16". Garden hoses are typically 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" I.D.

- Plastic tightening ring is the weak link in this product. It will eventually fail.

Summary:

I gave up on this product, and now use 1/2" ball valves on each garden hose; see Customer Images. These valves have 1/2" female threads on each end and the ball valve's hole is 1/2" diameter, which allows excellent water flow. They also have a large handle, and are designed to last for decades.
