Pretty Good Sprinkler [Posted on 2007-01-30] I got one good year of use out of this sprinkler. It did do a fine job, watered the lawn very well. But the next season it only lasted a short time until the gear broke and would not rotate. Not sure what caused it. May have been one of those things.
I would still recommened the sprinkler if you can grab one on sale.
Gilmour ok; Nelson is better [Posted on 2008-05-31] The turbine sprinklers are easier to use than the impulse type....howevever, from the two I own, the Nelson is better than the Gilmour. The Nelson has a metal base and a much more efficient turbine head. This Gilmour is ok for flower beds.
Control is great - severe leaking where hose is attached is not! [Posted on 2008-06-23] I own 4 or 5 of these sprinklers to help me keep an acre watered. They get a lot of use, and I have to move them around a lot. The control with this sprinkler is awesome - I can water just about any shape patch. But the sprinklers leak something awful where the hoses attach. Its not a threaded spot, so I can't just use washers or thread tape to fix it. Its where the plastic ring to screw the hose in attaches to the sled base.
Positioning the hose to not waste water is hard due to the leaking. And I get wet every time I move them. I wish I could figure out a way to patch this one faulty spot, because otherwise they are the best sprinklers I've ever owned by far.
