Good for small to medium size weeds [Posted on 2007-10-09] I have a major weed problem. These weeds grow into 4 foot high bushes. Works well on those smaller than about 15" high. Trying to pull up larger or difficult ones caused the handle to break off. Also, the 'fingers' which grab the root will get bent if overloading the tool. Definitely works on small to medium sized weeds. I repaired mine and continue to use it, but more cautiously. The larger weeds require a heavier duty puller. These are much more expensive, so I gave this one a try. Great when used within its design capacity. The weed problem I have is called "Koster's Curse".
I love this tool! [Posted on 2008-04-13] I bought this tool for dandelions, and I have found it to be the best dandelion puller ever. It works on weeds that grow from a central point. By positioning the prongs over the very center of the dandelion, and shoving the tool into the ground with a little pedal provided for that purpose, you then give the tool a sideways twist, and the dandelion pops right out, held within the prongs. It doesn't matter if it's in tall grass or not; the only thing that's essential is that it be centered over the weed. Of course, the ground has to be reasonably soft, but that would be true for any such tool.
This tool really saves my back, because you don't have to been over alot. Mind is sturdily made, and has lasted for several years of use. I would recommend this tool to anyone!
Great week removal tool [Posted on 2008-05-31] I have been very pleased with this tool. It is easy to use and does a decent job in removing the deep taproot of dandelions in the lawn. I have been able to train my 7 year old son how to use it and he even looks forward to removing the weeds!
dandelion weeder [Posted on 2008-06-15] this is an outstanding tool. Dandelions do not have a chance. Three of my friends that tried my Grandpa's Weeder have bought their own.
