Excellent heavy-duty deep clamp [Posted on 2007-11-09]
I bought this clamp for a specific construction task, and it's a beauty. When it arrived from Amazon, I thought there must be some mistake because the box felt way too heavy for just one clamp. This thing is massive. The steel bar and malleable iron clamp "arms" are large and strong so it won't flex under maximum load. Instead of the wooden handle as shown in the Amazon photo, my clamp has a sliding steel bar handle, similar to the kind used in bench vises. It works fine and allows substantial pressure to be applied. Release the pressure and the clamp is easy to reposition, except for the weight of the clamp itself. If I need another one of these clamps or another size, I'll be buying a Gross Stabil's deep reach F clamp.
