Love the box, needs a better knife [Posted on 2007-08-16]
To be perfectly honest, I bought this set only for the box. These knife handles aren't compatible with the ever-present Xacto blades, and are obviously of lower quality once you start working with them. I found the blades included to be somewhat flimsy (too flexible) in comparison to Xacto carving blades.
However, the box is a gem for storing any hobby knife and blades. Very sturdy with solid metal hinges and spring-back latch. I can carry my carving supplies without worrying about damaging them or anything else. I used to have a different set in a wooden box, which was lost during a recent move, and now that brand is no longer in stores. I didn't want a plastic box set -- they seem to be more shallow and less durable. While Xacto does sell a set in a wooden box, it's 3 or 4 times the price of this one.
