Like most items I buy, I research them as thoroughly as possible, relying somewhat on internet research and interviews with people who own the item. I was not able to interview anyone with this particular item, but because most of the negative reviews related to damage or adjustments made necessary by poor packing or transportation, I decided to take a chance. My JDS 750-ER arrived in perfect condition and the delivery by Amazon was prompt (and free!!). I have not installed it in my workshop yet because it is still under construction, but I have installed it on a table in our living room allowing it to go to work on our dusty house (three dogs and we live in a rural area with plenty of outside activities constantly being drug into the house). It has been operating for about an hour and I already notice a difference in the house. I look forward to using this in my workshop and will probably buy another one to work in tandom as the workshop is 40 x 30 x 12. Thanks JDS and thanks Amazon.com.

Before I bought this I pored over all the reviews that Amazon had to offer on air filtration systems as fine dust particles were a big problem in my shop. First of all, if you are like me and don't know anything about this, do not think that any of these systems are going to collect all the dust from woodworking. When I sand something, it keeps the typical dust cloud filtered pretty well, but I still wear a dust mask. As far as a fine layer of dust settling over my desk, it still does, but about 60% less than before. Also may be in some ways I am not a good reviewer as my shop is large, 30 by 48 with a 14 foot ceiling and I probably need another one. Pros: Love the remote, like the timer, seems to be well constructed, and its made in the USA! Cons: Some what noisey at high setting, and it should come with the permanent filter. That is the only reasons I did not rate it a five. Also, Amazon was a breeze to deal with and it arrived two days early, in good condition.

I installed the JDS 750-ER a week ago and have been pleased with it's performance thus far though I have not yet had a sanding intensive project to test it with. The construction is sturdy and the timer and remote function well, and it is quieter than I expected, even on high. The only gotcha I found in installing it was the fact that there is a styrofoam packing block wedged in the fan motor to keep it from rotating during shipping, the note of which is buried in the manual text instead of being mentioned first thing. If they put a separate sheet of paper or highlighted boxed text in the manual it would be more obvious. I turned mine on and it would not blow so immediately turned it off and took the filters off to discover the packing block. I'm sure some folks have burned out their fan motors because of this. Other than that, I'm happy with the purchase.

This unit arrived in good condition and seems to work well. When it is used with other high amp equipment (dust collector, saw, and etc.) it will tax your 120 volt house electrical system. Remember to take the styrofoam out of the squirrel cage before starting up per their instructions.

I purchased this unit 3 years ago. It has performed flawleessly!!!
My first air filter was a home depot window fan with a wool filter on the inlet side and a 1 micron filter on the outlet side. That helped my dust situation quite a bit but this JDS ROCKS!
The electrostatic filter is easy to clean. It's not very noisy as others have stated. My wood equipment makes much more noise than this thing.
I used 4 hooks to hang from the ceiling. Might want a bit of help to lift as it was a struggle to hang. I did it myself. My aching back.
It cleans the air extremely fast and down to the micron. It even helps move the air in my basement so much I see much less dust on objects I used to clean monthly. It helps move the humidity so the dehumidifier works better also. A nice plus!
I added a pre-filter and that stretches out the cleaning of the electrostatic filter. I purchased a 3 pack of spun wool filtes from Lowes for about 2 bucks. I use duct tape to fasten the wool filter to the front of the JDS. Perfect fit! I use my shop vac to clean out the wool filter. And man does that wool filter get dirty!
I still have the same filter bag and I think it's starting to get clogged. Time to replace. And yes I do a lot of wood working and make plenty of dust.
Combine this JDS with a Grizzly dust collector and you would not belive the difference in floor and ambiant dust.
I would purchase this unit again.
Oh yeah, the remote. I think it's under some pile of wood scraps somewhere.
