Fence & Wobble - Still A Good Buy [Posted on 2005-08-25] Rather than just duplicate the praise and helpful points already made by others (which I agree with), I kept my review focused on information I did not see covered. I am reviewing the 12" open-stand model. Hope you find it helpful.
FENCE. The JET 14" Bandsaw Fence works on the 12" bandsaw - the mounting points on the table fit perfectly. You just need to drill one small hole in the aluminum fence to adjust the position of the back bar rest. This is the same style fence as on the JET 10' table saw, very straight and 90 degrees from table out of the box. Comes with measuring tape already afixed to front bar and very easy to align with blade. A good time saver and quality upgrade to the band saw.
WOBBLE. The open stand is not very stable. I jury-rigged a fix with lashed-on canvas and sand bags, and am happy now. However, if I ever need to replace this (which I doubt) I will get a heavier closed stand - but that's just me.
VALUE. Purchased 12" open-stand through Amazon at sicksty phive persent [sic] of list, which appears to be sicksty sheckles more than other posters -- I guess i missed the sale price. Still a good value when compared to Delta, Craftsman, Grizzly and Rigid tools. Would buy again.
Jet JWBS-12OS 12" Open Stand Band Saw [Posted on 2005-09-14] Unit came well packaged. (Styrofoam, plastic bags, etc.) Assembly was easy due to excellent manual. Fit and finish is excellent. For a 12" the saw is extremely well built, heavy duty and eye appealing. The mirror-like cast iron table looks as good now as it did two years ago. The saw runs very quiet and performs well. If you're looking for a quality 12" band saw, this is the one to buy.
Not Price, Horsepower [Posted on 2005-09-24] I was not surprised to see the finish of the saw when I took it out of the box. I set it up in no time but reality of a 350 dollar saw set in when I tried to resaw 3/4 in piece of oak. Changed the blade to a 1/2 in 3tpi but still no power. If it were a Mustang I would install a supercharger. "All show, no go". Pay the extra money and get one more powerful.
Don't Hesitate on this one! [Posted on 2006-06-04] This is a very nice saw in this price range. I have owned mine now for about a year and am very happy with the stability and smoothness of the unit. I would recommend getting rid of the stock blade and picking up some "Timberwolf" brand blades. These blades make all of the difference. Also, the addition of the cool blocks as others have mentioned is another plus. Overall, this saw runs problem free, is smooth and vibration free.
Sweet machine [Posted on 2007-04-29] Great bandsaw for a great price. I've never had a problem with a jet product yet and I've bought a lot of jet tools.
