Customer Reviews:

Just go order the best one, the National Walking Sprinkler [Posted on 2007-05-05]
I looked over all of these cheapy models and ended up buying the real deal. The National Walking Sprinkler is the original walking sprinkler and they also used to make the John Deere model until some idiot decided to go with the cheaper plastic one they sell here. They still make parts for the old John Deere models too. Best of all they are made in the USA in Lincoln, Nebraska. They cost a little more but are well worth the price. Make sure you arder yours with a steel gear and you will get a lifetime of service out of it. Well worth the extra money. Maybe some day John Deere will value their reputation again and have National make their sprinklers like they used to do! Hey Amazon, when are you going to offer them here?

Effective but fragile and wandering. [Posted on 2007-05-26]
The tractor sprinklers, in general, are a great way to water a large lawn without having to move sprinklers around every half hour. The Gilmour John Deere Traveling Sprinkler, however, is prone to breakage and tends to wander off track.. The main body is metal, but other important parts are cheap plastic. The auto shut-off plunger on the underside was the first part to break, and one of the nozzle arms broke when the tractor flipped over. This product requires close monitoring because it tends to derail from its hose "track" and wander off on its own.

I recommend a similar product by a different company.

Review for John Deere sprinkler [Posted on 2007-09-30]
We have only used it a couple of times and love it. In order to
have it move rapidly the hose shouldn't be too heavy.

Broke after one use [Posted on 2007-10-23]
This sprinkler broke after the first time we used it. The part that fell off can't be repaired and we are unable to return it for a refund. If you are looking to buy one of these, DON'T BUY THIS ONE!!!!!

2 (brand new) broke in the first 5 minutes each [Posted on 2007-11-24]
The actual drive is a Gilmour plastic unit under the spinning wands. My water pressure is normal city pressure and yet the plastic part which connects the gear box to the spinning wands broke - not once, but twice. I didn't try a third time, I just threw it away. The plastic sheared off the first time I turned on the water about 15 seconds in just as it began to spin. The second one ran for a couple of minutes, spinning perfectly, and then broke off shooting up out of the hole leaving a geyser of water shooting up.
