really poor battery life [Posted on 2007-09-05] The drill is fine, and comes with a typical bit set, but the battery life is awful. Forget using it if it's been sitting on the shelf for a month. You've got to charge both batteries before doing anything just so you can make it through the job.
disappointed by recall [Posted on 2007-12-20] I used this drill/driver for a several months, and it worked OK for an inexpensive tool. Then I was notified that there was a recall on the chargers by All Trade Tools. Some of the batteries were incompatible with the charger and would overheat and blow up.
The new charger arrived a few weeks later. It is flimsier than the original, and I had to cut away the carrying case to make it fit. They also gave me a coupon for $10 off and free shipping for any Kawasaki tool I bought through their site. The problem is that only a few of the Kawasaki tools can be bought from their site. There was nothing that I wanted to buy, even at $10 off (and I'm a tool junkie!) I wasn't going to pay them $10 for a "$20" drill bit set that I didn't really need, just to use the coupon. Why give them more money?
There are many inexpensive tools on the market. I won't be buying All Trade Tools or Kawasaki brand tools again.
Kawasaki 19.2 Cordless Drill = Homeuse only! [Posted on 2008-01-07] I purchased two of these drills for my husband and son for Christmas. The one will be fine for home use for my husband. However, the one for my son who is in the Heating and Air Condition business, did not work. He used it twice and it stopped working and the drill bits broke. I would not recommend this drill at all.
it is good it comes with warranty [Posted on 2008-02-23] I got 2 drills at Costco. First lasted about 5 months. Second one maybe 6 or seven. I had a pretty big remodelling job but it was not used all the time every day or even close to it. It came with two year warranty so I simply returned them back to the store for the full refund. The thing I like best about it is how light weight it is. It can really get hard on your wrist with a lot of drilling or putting screws in. It recharges fast and has a lot of torque. Probably a good choice for a casual user or with a good warranty.
Its actually made by All Trade; battery dies if you turn around! [Posted on 2008-07-06] Hate the poor battery life! Whenever I need it, it's drained! Even if fully charged a day or two ago! Also, it carries a Kawasaki logo (the reason a lot of people buy it) but its made by AllTrade which, to me, is a misrepresentation and sort of deceitful (unless you are into reading fine prints!). Overall it gets the work done but is not reliable when you need it, for above reason.
Will not buy again!
