level lines made EZ [Posted on 2002-02-07]
I am a professional paperhanger and purchased this item on the recomendation of a couple of paperhangers from my paperhangers guild. It was a tool that I didn't realize how quickly it would pay for itself and how much shorter it made my day. No more drawing level lines around my room for keeping patterns level. I now set up the gizmo II and have the lines done in a quarter of the time and more accurately than with a standard 4'level.
I did however like the laser jamb pole better than the one offered here in the package ...also there is a laserjamb II pole out ( I do not have it but would have purchased it had I known of it when I bought mine. The CST pole is o.k. , but wobbly and does not adjust as fine and smooth as Laser jamb. In conclusion great laser, for paperhangers, carpenters , painters and anyone who needs a hand in leveling .

Also check out Pacific Laser Systems PLS2 [Posted on 2002-08-21]
A laser cross is a really useful tool, and I was considering the various Gizmo models until I found the smaller, lighter, PLS2 Palm Laser from Pacific Laser Systems. It costs a little more than the Gizmos, but the PLS2 has a 1/4" (camera tripod) mounting thread instead of 5/8". That means I can use the PLS2 with my existing camera tripod, whereas with the Gizmo I would need the Laser Pole to use it, and that just becomes one more bulky piece of equipment to store in my house. If CST/Berger made a 5/8"-to-1/4" adapter to allow you to use the Gizmo on a standard camera tripod I might have bought the Gizmo, but they don't.

I rate it excellent [Posted on 2007-03-03]
I purchased my Gizmo II about three years ago. I has paid for itself multiple times. I cannot believe that any other professional paperhanger doesn't have one of these. It provides that, quickly, your overlap on inside corners is minimal, maximizing pattern congruity through the corners. Also, it insures that your pattern isn't just "near perfect," around the room but, that it is "right on the money." Not only has it improved my finished work but, it is handy around the house for hanging cabinets, mirrors and pictures. Three years ago, my first pole had plastic threads, connecting the pole sections. This faulty design was corrected by using metal threads in the newer poles, eliminating thread wear and "wobbley pole" when assembled. It is a bit more than other lazor levels but, is very durable. I've dropped the unit off the platform at least a half-a-dozen times in the last few years and it still works great. Runs on three AA batteries that last about 20 days of continued, all-day use.
