I have to second (or third or whatever) the reviews which revile the pate' spreader and the cocktail fork and the eyelash curler (even though this last is not really present, it would be about as useful as the spreader and the fork, and you'd never have known it wasn't there if I hadn't told you -- even if you owned a fair). I have both the "supertool", which lacks only scissors and a corkscrew to be perfect and the "flair", which lacks only a file and a saw to be perfect. What's wrong with this picture -- and why can't Leatherman see it? :(

Need some improvements [Posted on 2001-09-26]
I am new owner of this tool and I admit the idea is brilliant compare to GERBER's for compactness, but the linkage mechanism should be RIVETING not BOLTING. I feel so uneasy whenever I use it since the bolts are easily untied and gone away.
If I tie up the bolt, the returning procedure of each tool is very stiff which is very dangerous especially for using knife.
All I found it useful is bottle/can opener because of it.
I sugest the leatherman people to improve it.

This thing is absolutely great. It has all the most commonly used appliances as well as a can and bottle opener and even a cork screw... Work hard, Play hard...this is the one. Its also built with typical Leatherman quality which has always been exceptional. I install Satellite TV for a living and I honestly pulled this thing out a dozen times the very first day I had it. I swear by it...P.S. I bought it at the largest knife shop in the world and its still about 20% cheaper on Amazon...My mistake.

Like most people, I think I have great need for a leatherman/swiss army knife type contraption but in reality have very little use for them. However, this one is great. The "picnic" uses make it better for me: cork screww, cheese knife, cutting knife. I've used it often on simple urban picnics. I've also taken it camping and it fit every need in my week in the woods.

The bottle opener is good enough that I use it instead of a standalone one. Plus it has all the standard Leatherman tools. That's why I bought it and it delivers.

Only negative is that it needs a proper foil cutter, or at least an additional small knife blade. You have to use the main blade, which doesn't work particularly well since it is too long, and gives it unneeded abuse.
