great tool for just about every impromptu project [Posted on 2007-05-09] I've assembled an entire desktop computer with my Leatherman in addition to a number of kitchen furniture items (kitchen island, microwave stand, etc)
Great everyday Leatherman [Posted on 2007-07-02] I own several Leatherman products, and the Juice C2 is the best everyday pocket carry Leatherman for me. It's compact, yet big enough to still be considered a "tool" and it has the basic things that I need 99% of the time in pliers, knife, both screwdriver heads and bottle opener/corkscrew. And most importantly, it doesn't have scissors. I can't stand scissors in a knife.
The finest leatherman? [Posted on 2007-08-29] This is my favorite leatherman because it has all of the "essential" tools AND is still small.
If you move down in the lineup (think: Squirt P4) then you still get a nice piece, but you're missing critical tools like a corkscrew (ever tried to open a bottle of wine on travel?). And if you move up in the lineup then you begin to get less useful extraneous tools which make the unit much larger and heavier.
The juice sits right in the middle, the ideal balance of utility and size. Highly recommended.
Design flaw snags an otherwise great product [Posted on 2008-05-30] When I found this tool initially, I was really psyched about the size and the price. And it had everything I wanted without a lot of obscure extras. But when I got it and opened it, it turned out that the tool was out of alignment, making it hard to open and close. The pliers in the center would get caught on the screw drivers in the one side. I wasn't going to put up this review originally because I figured it's possible that the one that came to me was just defective, but I looked at the same knife at a local store, and it had the same alignment issues. Considering the number of close options in price and equipment, I really don't recommend this product.
I compared it to my mom's Juice K4, a product that we got at Costco a few years back, and that tool moved completely smoothly--which is what I would expect from a leatherman. For $40 I didn't want to hold on to the C2 tool that looked like it would probably get more seriously stuck with some use. so I ordered the Juice CS4, which is only $10 more, and with scissors, so also extremely useful without unnecessary extras. So far that product has been perfect!
