juicy s2 [Posted on 2007-02-09] My swiss army finally gave out on me, and i needed a replacment. I bought I wave leatherman a few years back for an upgrade, but haven't used it because it's too large to carry around in my pocket, and i don't want a sheath hangin on me all day. So i did a little research and picked up the juice s2. I don't even notice it in my pocket..which is a good thing.. It has BOTH scissors and the pliers.. goodgood.. I love the feel and finish/color. I do however miss my sharp hole poking device (whatever it's called) and my tweeezers. I know i can't have everything in the compact design, but maybe instead of 3 sizes of staightblade screwdrivers (almost always use phillps instead), they could have thrown in my requested device or even another small blade (this only has the one)..... Haven't had it long enough to comment on the durability, but it feels rugged enough.. overall, i'd say go for this if your going to carry it in your pocket mostly, but upgrade for more TOYS if your going to sheath it.
The orange Juice is sweet [Posted on 2007-02-20] The Juice S2 is a good utility knife for basic electronic maintenance. Love the color too!
Ideal for an every-day pocket tool [Posted on 2007-11-08] I have this in my pocket every day, wherever I go.
It has the "you really need it now" tools (pliers, scissors, flat screwdrivers that are sharp enough to use as reamers/hole starters, and a phillips screwdriver).
It's big enough to be more than a toy for things broken in everyday office, home, and parenting life. In the past two weeks, I have fixed two broken chairs (one at home, one at work), repaired one computer cable with bent pins, freed a stuck hinge, fixed a broken strap on a child's backpack, and trimmed my moustache.
It's also small and smooth enough to be comfortable in everything from dress pants, to jeans, to shorts.
Highly recommended, not as your only tool, but as your "once a day, I need it, and I need it now" tool.
great pocket multitool [Posted on 2008-01-10] The S2 is my daily carry tool. I prefer to carry it over my Wave simply due to size. Although the Wave is a bigger and more useful multitool, the S2 is the perfect pocket carry compromise. The plier are solid and and well made for their size and as with every Leatherman the blade is very sharp. When you own larger multitools there are always other blades and items that were available but 90% of what I really use is available on the S2. I went for the S2 for size and of prefer scissor over a cork screw. I guess if you are constantly opening wine then the C2 would be nice but for the rest of the normal world I would think the scissors would be more useful. I also own a Swiss Army Champ which has tons of tools but is like carrying a lead weight in your pocket. The S2 is the perfect balance, it goes with me everywhere.
Solid, Useful, Pocketable [Posted on 2008-06-01] Until last week, I had never owned a multi-tool or Leatherman product. Now I've bought 3 of them. Of the 3, I like the Juice S2 best, but I'm probably going to give it to my brother for 3 reasons: 1) It's a really nice gift - and I think he'll love it. 2) I can get by well enough with the Squirt S4, and 3) The one thing that I do most frequently with pliers, I cannot do with the Juice's pliers because the jaws don't close flush with each other along their entire length. The jaws of the pliers close tight at the tip only. If you need to straighten thin items - such as a row of pins on an electronic DIP chip, the Juice is not ideal. Aside from that (which few people need to do), it's wonderful. I especially like the way the two sides can be unfolded into a line with the screwdriver blades extended from either end. That gives you a screwdriver almost the same length as a normal screwdriver, that feels like a screwdriver in the hand, and is slim enough to get into most spaces.
