Pathetic for the cost [Posted on 2003-08-11] You would think that, given the cost and the fact that the batteries/charger cost AS MUCH as the vacuum - you'd be getting some commercial level quality. This is NOT the case. Anything over the dust-bunny level isn't going to get picked up by this. Save your $$ and just get a Black and Decker. Or 4 for that matter.
OK OK, well the kidds like it! [Posted on 2004-01-11] I got this as a promo for buying a few "bazillion" dollars worth of Makita tools. The wife thinks is a poor excuse for a gift, ouch! The kids think its fun to play with. I use it as my emergency extra 9.6 battery stash. Somebody told me it was a vacuum, call it a toy and give it to the kids. You'll get more for your money if you do that, then trying to vacuum with it.
Fantastic for FLOOR!! [Posted on 2004-03-30] I love this for our floor. This vacuum works great for me to pick up all the stuff from the floor before I mop or just every few days for maintenance work. It's light-weight and easy to use. The only time I have to bend down is to get under the couch. I would NOT recommend this on carpet, but it's great on tiles and wood floor which is what we have. I've been able to avoid lots of major mopping before company arrives by just using this vacuum.
DON'T MISS THE FINE PRINT! [Posted on 2004-12-03] Carefully note that this item is shipped WITHOUT BATTERY! If you have other 9.6V Makita tools this might be OK, but I don't, and I didn't read the description carefully before ordering.
So now it's time to evaluate the additional cost of a battery and charger AND THEN determine whether the performance is worth the (total) price.
Finally a cordless vac that gets in the cracks! [Posted on 2006-03-11] This sweeper is near perfect, and I've tried them all.
Will do 1,000 sq ft plus on the lower powered, cheaper, stick battery. we bought the battery for 33.00 at home depot, since we already had a pod style charger.
Be aware you need to buy a stick battery and will need the correct charger to go with it, to run this vac!
I love the extended pole on the END of the vac. I can now clean in areas that no other cordless sweeper could reach before.
The wide handle is a little fatiguing on my small hand, but I'll get accustomed to it.
Won't do carpets, but on the plus side, there is no brush roll to get tangled with hair.
This vac is great for a house that is mostly hard floors with kids that drop crumbs and track in leaves. gets up dust and hair as well.
