Great Jig Saw [Posted on 2004-10-06] I finally upgraded to a real jig saw after the blade collet in my Skil saw decided to "jump" across the room whilst cutting through some 2" walnut. I never thought there would be much difference in jig saws until I got this one. Amazon had this to me the week following when I ordered it. They shipped the next day but, as usual, UPS is a little slow. The second I set this on the rest of the Walnut I had to cut, the difference was amazing. Nice clean cuts, no jumping and I can get straight cuts very easily. After getting through the 2" walnut, I had to cut some tight curves on 1/2" walnut slats for the chair I was making. I couldn't even feel any tension on the jig saw at all. This is definately a great jig saw and Kudos to Amazon for their pricematching policy. I found this cheaper elsewhere and Amazon did the price match in 2-3 minutes with no problem.

Light duty jig saw [Posted on 2007-01-20] This is a well built little saw, but it is not heavy duty or solid. Unlike most Makita tools this one is a bit spooky to use. It is just not heavy enough and jumps around. It is ok for home projects but not a great tool where professional results are required. It is more like a tool to use around the house comparable with Craftsman tools, somewhat better than a Black and Decker, but not a great tool for the money. I am a contractor in Florida
Good Value [Posted on 2007-02-14] This saw is pretty bare bones, but it is a good value and it will get the job done!
this is a "night and day" sabre saw [Posted on 2007-02-24] For years I struggled along with cheap (not less in price, but less in design) and didn't know what a real sabre saw was until I got one of these. This is my third one (the first is still working after 25 years). I installed a "coping foot" on this one (a special base to "cope trim").
These saws very seldom break a blade, run very smooth, have good balance and have a array of agressiveness to choose from (orbital action) (speed dial). I haven't had any trouble with them other than the usual cord/brush maintenance.
