Torque Monster [Posted on 2000-07-22]
This is another quality product from the great people at Makita. This saw cuts through lumber like no other. Framing custom homes requires quality equipment, and this saw has not let me down. The only complaint I have is the weight (15lbs.), but this is not too bad when compared to other worm drives. If you need a quality framing saw, please do not overlook the Makita.

Best worm drive I've used so far. [Posted on 2002-01-08]
I've used mine daily for the past 4-5 years, and have not needed to do any maintainance, except replace cut cords. Amazingly it still runs like new. The saw has been through everything from cutting brick/concrete to all sorts of woods. I would highly recommend this saw to anyone who is looking for a dependable well balanced saw.

Powerful, Light and Precise [Posted on 2004-12-23]
I bought this instead of the bosch/skil worm-drive and have not regretted it one bit. I have used the Hypoid for everything froming framing work to cutting window sills. Great control, power and precision. Highly recommended.

Great saw  [Posted on 2007-01-04]
I ve had this about six months and the jury is in i love it. It has all the power you'll ever need. I bought it mainly for cutting concrete and with a diamond turbo rim blade it has hogged through probably a mile of concrete with no problem. All with the blade buried a full 2 3/4" deep in the concrete full bore,no bogging down, no catching on rebar( you must use a turbo blade to cut reinforced concrete a segmented blasde could be dangerous if it hits rebar or wire wrong). I also use it to cut concrete crusted forms and such and eventhough the blades hate it the saw loves it slicing through it quite literally like a hot knife through butter.Once again i can bury the blade at its full depth and not even some hard old maple butcher block has slowed it down. All this and no oil to change, which is really a pain in the [...] especially on a dusty jobsite, and anyone whos ever worked around concrete knows that, that dust gets everywhere and ruins everything. From cds in the truck to your cell phone screen concrete dust will shorten the life of it, so to me sealed is a real good thing when it come to drive componets. So to me this is anotther winner from Makita
