Customer Reviews:

High quality- has lasted for years of hard use [Posted on 2003-04-16]
I have had this drill for 6 years, and use it all the time. I just bought a second one to get the NiMH batteries and charger. I thought it was good before, but with the new batteries it is great. I've dropped it more times than I'd like to admit, and it just keeps going. Only once or twice in 6 years has this not had as much power as I'd like. For ordinary use (drilling anything, running drywall screws up to 3 inches) it has never fallen short. My only gripe is the forward/reverse switch- it is on the back and is small, and can be a little awkward to flip. I would recommend this drill to anyone.

MAKITA 9.6V CORDLESS [Posted on 2003-06-05]
I BOUGHT THIS DRILL BACK IN 1993 WHEN I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOUSE. AFTER USING IT EXTENSIVELY ON VARIOUS PROJECTS FROM PUTTING UP SHEETROCK TO DRILLING, THIS IS ALWAYS THE FIRST DRILL I REACH FOR. THE DRILL IS VERY WELL BALANCED AND HAS ALOT OF POWER FOR IT'S SIZE. I'M ON MY SECOND SET OF BATTERIES( THE FIRST SET LASTED FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS ) AND RECENTLY GOT IT TUNED UP AT A MAKITA SERVICE CENTER. AFTER BEING DROPPED SEVERAL TIMES AND PUT THROUGH TOUGH USE,THIS BABY KEEPS ON GOING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

Outstanding performance [Posted on 2003-12-05]
I have had my oldest 9.6v drill for close to 10 years. I still have several of the old nicad batteries (that still work). As did one of the other reviewers, I purchased the new kit solely for the batteries and charger (you cannot purchase two NIMH batteries and a charger for the sets $90 price tag). Now, I have my original drill, plus a new one. I actually have most of the 9.6v line of Makita tools, and have been very happy with them. You cannot go wrong with this line of tools.

My Makita charger "died" after 23 years. A new charger from Makita on line was priced at $138. This great deal on Amazon not only provided me with a new charger but also another drill and two new batteries($32 each). A fine product at a super price.
