I just got this tool today but from what I can tell it seems very good quality and Im sure it will do what I want . Plus the free drill that comes with it seems very good also . Thanks again amazon .

I have used this impact for several months now and have no problems at all. Makita is one of few cordless makers that use nimh batteries and it really pays off. The LED light on this unit is a life saver as well. It is perfectly balanced with a great power to weight ratio.

I received it as part of drill driver combo last Xmas. I have used only a few times. It does what it is suppose to. LED - not sure if it is helpful. If you are driving a lag bolt in a countersink the LED is not bright enough. I have to stop and check every few seconds to make sure I don't over do it. Otherwise it works great!
Great Product.........5 Stars except for Case w/Bonus Drill [Posted on 2006-12-13]
I would have rated this 5 stars if the case were designed to hold the bonus drill I received with the impact driver. I found that I have to select the lock or neutral position of the forward/reverse switches as the case was only designed for one drill. Both fit but several times when carrying them one of the drills made contact with the other drill trigger and started to run in the closed case.
The drill driver (free tool) is great and has excellent run time as well as the impact driver. I have used the impact driver with a 1/4" socket adapter and impact socket to remove boat trailer tires. I even carry this along on trips in case of a flat. It beats a hand wrench. It has amazing power for a 14.4 volt unit. I've used it at work the past two seasons to assemble summer outdoor furniture (swing sets, park benches, etc.) It cut the assembly time by 2/3's. You just have to watch yourself without the torque settings it will snap screw and bolt heads in a second.
Several of my friends laughed at some of the uses I've put it through until they saw it in action.

I also have the 18V model but prefer this one. Plenty of power, torque, great battery run time, and fairly compact size make this my favoriet tools for any task involving screws.
