I'M A BELIEVER [Posted on 2008-05-27] I bought this hoping it would work as described and found out it did. I was looking at electric models but didn't want to pay $300.00 for one job. This product cuts well, just cut your product from the back side for a smooth cut. It even cuts small 1.5 inch pieces with ease. i recommend this product and the price isn't bad either.
Works Perfect [Posted on 2008-06-01] I am using a Milwaukee corded drill with these shears and it cuts 1/2 hardibacker like butter. I could not be happier with the product
Excellent tool [Posted on 2008-06-09] I bought this tool to begin the process of replacing all of the siding on my house. I have a setup on the radial arm saw with a dry masonry blade that creates lots of dust. It works fine for the 1" thick trim boards, but it won't cut the long angles in the Hadrie Plank for the roof pitch on the ends of the house. I had tried the same setup with a circular saw and custom guide and made lots of dust while cutting the Hardie plank.
I attached this tool to a Dewalt 18 volt drill which had plenty of power to run it. Attaching was simple and obvious without the instructions.
The first project involved cutting 4 by 8 foot sheets of Hardie siding for the porch roof. This tool had no problem cutting a 4 foot long line with a single hand holding the drill/cutter. It was fairly easy to stay right on the line as the tool removed the material on the waste side of it. The best part was the lack of dust.
The edge did have a slightly rough appearance, but in this case it was covered by trim so it won't be visible. It shouldn't be an issue for the 8-1/4" plank.
Not good for Nichiha siding [Posted on 2008-06-14] I couldn't get a clean cut in 1/2" Nichiha siding - the back side was mashed to a pulp. Returning the tool.
perfect tool [Posted on 2008-07-01] If you are cutting hardi siding this a great tool. Cuts fast and there is no dust. The only drawback is it won't cut tight arcs or circles
