Makes sense [Posted on 2006-02-23] I like this instrument. It certainly makes calibrations far easier (and more accurate) to accomplish rather than using the saw blade and what should be for obvious reasons. Somewhat more expensive than I feel it needs to be but it since it doesn't eat anything and it should last a lifetime together with the fact that it can also be used on my miter saw, it's kinda difficult to find a downside. Only four star simply because of its cost.
great helper [Posted on 2006-11-02] After years of reading the reports I finally popped for one of these to check my 13 yr old Jet JTAS. Was a great help to reset the 0' and really helped me dial in the 'heel' of the blade. Was able to take it from .012" to about .006", might have been able to get closer with a new side on the fence but was a great improvement. would recomend it to anyone. Will try it on my DeWalt 708 this week end.
Completely Accurate [Posted on 2008-04-11] Very accurate tool. Much better than trying to align saw using a saw blade.
not really precision ground [Posted on 2008-05-17] This tool was not useful to me. I laid my Starrett straight edge across it and could rock the straight edge noticeably. Not worth the money. Precision is overstated. Sent it back.
Not as accurate as stated [Posted on 2008-05-24] I was expecting accuracy to "within + or - 1/1000 . I didn't get it. The plate wasn't flat enough to get those tolerances. The plate is good for lining up an engineering square to check for 90 degree cuts. But that's about all. If you are using a quality dial caliper you quickly see how un-flat it is. I wouldn't mind (I also wouldn't have bought it) if they didn't say it could achieve that kind of accuracy but it can't. I feel you can spend your money on better things. Maybe it would be better to spend three times as much if what you're getting actually works as advertised.
