This is a perfect solution for people who have to lock their handguns in their vehicle while they go into a store or bank and can not take it with them.. I have it attached to the chassis of the car through the bottom of the seat and thread the cable through the magazine well (revolver people could use the open cyl as well).. It is very heavy duty and rubberized to protect the finish. Great and innovative solution, plus quick accesss if needed in a hurry.

this lock is basically a lockable rope. the cable is sturdy and the latch head seems to work quite well. What i like about this lock is when the cable is threaded through the latch head, you can turn the key and then tighten the cable through the latch head until you've reached the desired amount of slack in your cable loop. This allows you to easily tie your bike to objects other than bike racks, which comes in handy when your city's public transportation services have lousy bicycle accessibility (no bike racks) and you have to tie your bike to railings, fenceposts, street signs, etc.
I have also used this lock to secure a jetski to a jetdock lift at a public marina, where it worked quite well, tolerating wet weather conditions (little WD-30 in the tumblers goes a long way) over a span of several months. Wish the Park Marina (Cartersville, GA) employees worked as well as this lock.
I got this lock for $15 at Wal-mart. might be pricey at $30 on amazon.

I purchased a slightly different model of this lock, and a few hours ago I discovered my bike had been stolen from the basement of my building. The cable was left behind, and upon inspecting it I discovered that the individual who took the bike had simply sawed through the cable with a hacksaw.
While this lock may be suitable for the short term security of your bike as you go somewhere to shop or get lunch, for long term storage it is clearly insufficient. The next lock I buy will be something more like a U lock made of heavy duty steel.
Great bike lock, a bit bulky [Posted on 2008-09-03]
The design is definitely cool and it's easily adjustable with the lock/slider mechanism. Although it wraps up nice, the lock mechanism is big and bulky. It looks like it could take a few bullets which is good for securing your bike for sure, but it takes up a lot of space in a camelbak or other pack you wear while riding.
