Metabo KGS 303  [Posted on 2006-07-20]
The KGS 303 Saw, while very functional, does not have the useability features that many of the other saws do. The miter/bevel guages are relatively small and hard to read. The standard stops on the miter/bevel are useable, but don't inspire confidence in their lasting durability. The D-handle is very nice, and the blade guard functions well. The soft start is nice, but the electric brake takes its time slowing the blade. In all, it seems like a very good homeowners saw at a contractors price.

Not great and way too expensive [Posted on 2007-01-05]
This is a very well build saw, but it does lack many features.
Pros: Very solidly built; powerful (15A motor for a 10" saw is powerful) and smooth running motor; larger working angles than other machines (both miter and bevel), good looking, simple and robust.
Cons: Does not have a laser light; the toll fences are not usable when cutting at sharp angles; need tools to move or remove the tall fence and even to flip down the right side of the "low" fence (see the customer pictures I uploaded); no hold down clamp included; does not have easy access to the motor brushes (or so it seems).
Conclusion: Although a very well built machine, it offers only very basic features.
If it was about $200 or $300 it would perhaps be a very good investment, but for a 10" you can get a lot more for less money (ex: Hitachi C10FSH).
However, if you are willing to spend over $400 then you might want to consider the larger model, Metabo-305, which I found at about $550 somewhere else, and it is a totally superior machine (12-inch saw), a true German engineering work. I returned my 303 and I did buy the 305 and it is worth every extra penny paid.
