Good retrofit for an old router [Posted on 2006-03-29] I bought this kit hopeing that it would fit on an old Craftsman 315 series router, so that I can make dovetails on the Porter Cable 4112 dovetail machine. The Milescraft website is not clear whether or not it will fit, but sure enough it does.
Comes with 3 bushings...an 3/4" OD, a zero clearance (not sure how to use it), and a bushing to accept Porter Cable template guides. Centering pin is handy as well.
Overall, it is 100% plastic, but very ridgid plastic. Outside of buying a new router, this was the next best thing.
4 stars becuase it is all plastic and the Milescraft website does not clearly detail ALL routers that this will fit (mine was not included in Milescraft's list).
New life for old Craftsman router [Posted on 2007-03-12] I recently purchased a Milescraft 1200 adapter base kit for my old Craftsman '315' series router so I could use it with the (now common) Porter-Cable router bushings.
The base plate itself attached great--there are a multitude of slots and holes on it making it universal to most brands of router. Craftsman used a three hole system on some of their older line of routers, and I was relieved that everything lined up perfectly. There was no slop or shifting of the base plate at all once I had all three screws (included) in place.
The 1200 kit, in addition to the plate and the screws, comes with three adaptor inserts. A 3/4" bushing, a Porter-Cable bushing adaptor, and some type of universal insert of whose use I am unclear.
Documentation seems to be the only shortfall with Milescraft's products. The instructions that came with the 1200 kit were very rudimentary, and I was not able to find any comprehensive cross-reference guides as to what model routers the product would fit-- The Milescraft website (also) lists only a handful of common router models. I was otherwise satisfied with the purchase.
