Customer Reviews:

Not quite a Milwaukee [Posted on 2007-01-05]
I don't know for sure, but this drill looks suspiciously like another brand of hammer drill. I still bought it, because I like Milwaukee and it had more power than the older 5370 that I tested. It worked very well drilling concrete and had plenty of power for thick pressure treated wood. Unfortunately, after a couple of hours use, the variable speed switch stopped working. It was either on or off, no in between. I am sure Milwaukee's warranty would have covered it, but I decided to return it and get the more Milwaukee looking 5387.

Great drill for a great price [Posted on 2007-03-11]
I read a lot of reviews, and spoke with some contractors I know, and they all had problems with hammer drills of other colors. Milwaukee always got good to great ratings. I own one other Milwaukee, and it is a great tool too, so I thought this a good choice. I was not disappointed. This drill is powerful, light weight, and with a new set of bits, made holes in concrete, ceramic tile, and wood with ease, largest was 1/2". In wood with a 1" self-feeding auger bit it was unstoppable. I am only a weekend warrior, so I am sure this tool will outlast me.

Milwaulkee hammer drill [Posted on 2007-05-13]
I have only used this a couple of times on light work so far. It drills like cutting through butter. I am going to need it for heavier work soon and expect it will be fine. I am a carpenter and it's a great light/medium duty drill. Milwaukee 5378-21 7.5 Amp 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill with Pistol Grip

Chuck Problem/ key appears to be wrong size [Posted on 2008-03-14]
Purchased this hammer drill in Jul 2007. Did some light drilling which worked well. Recently had to drill several 3/8" holes in a basement floor. Had a continuous problem with the chuck working loose thereby losing the bit, over and over.Turning a one hour job into about 3 hours. The key provided with the drill does not fit the chuck.
It seems almost as if it is the wrong size. Bought another key and even that did not solve the problem. Have owned several Milwaukee tool before and never had a problem. I will have to either drive to a warranty repair shop a distance of 70 miles one way or pay for the shipping both ways. I am not a happy customer and I expected more from Milwaukee than this. One more bad experience and no more Milwaukee for me.

hammer drill [Posted on 2008-07-02]
I have been using Milwaukee drills for years and they have all been great. This hammer drill is no exception. I have never used a hammer drill before now, only a rotary hammer, but this drill performed as needed. It took a little more pressure while drilling, but it did the job.
