Power to Burn! [Posted on 2002-08-13] ...This Milwaukee driver is perfect! If you are looking for real power, this is the driver! Hit the trigger, and it will almost twist your wrist. A very versatile tool, it will dimple drywall with zero damage, yet drive a screw (3 1/2") into 75+ year old studs without hesitation. The adjustment is able to change drop-off depths by 1/64". Once you set it up, it never changes. Changing bits is easy, too. The whole nose snaps off to change bits, and you don't lose your adjustment. This is one of my favorite features since my former drywall gun nose piece had to be screwed off to change bits, then readjusted. I was a little concerned about the low max RPM (2500 RPM). (Must be a guy thing!) This is more than enough speed. The trigger is very sensitive to pressure, so speed can be regulated easy. As usual, Milwaukee Tools are the best! The only drawback was delivery, not the tool. I ordered it on June 28th, and received it August 9th. Order it before you need it ...
Great screwdriver from decking [Posted on 2006-07-07] I purchased this screwdriver for the main purpose of laying deck boards. It work smoothing and is a very quick screwdriver. It takes some a little time to get the hang of it but not long and when you do you can lay down a lot a screws in a short period. I've never had any problems with Milwaukee, and would recommend it over any other brand. Wish it came in a case but that is the only negative I hve for this purchase.
This is the one you want [Posted on 2006-09-01] This is my third drywall gun, the most recent being the Dewalt DW257R. I don't do much drywall work, but the Dewalt literally fell apart after about 3 years. During that time, a philips bit in my regular electric drill worked just as well as the Dewalt! The Milwaukee 6740-20 is what a drywall gun should be. It's performance has been flawless, it's well balanced, and comfortable to use. I am surprised that a drywall gun that is this "heavy-duty" is also this lightweight and easy to use. I was so thrilled with this machine, that I replaced my hammer drill with the Milwaukee 5387-22 which I am even more thrilled with. The two have made me a Milwaukee man from now on!
Suggestion: Buy the 48-55-0711 Steel Carrying Case to keep it in.
Satisfied [Posted on 2007-10-03] My wife bought this screw gun for me upon my request. The first project we used it for was to build a 250 sq. ft. deck on the back of our house. We were installing 1X6 treated deck boards into treated 2X6's. It had plenty of power and never hesitated. It also has a very sensitive trigger so you can ease one in when you have to. The plastic depth set was extremely useful and durable. My brother was helping us and he was using a Bosch cordless impact driver. That worked pretty well but the Milwaukee screw gun got the screws in much quicker and quieter!
This is my first Milwaukee tool and I am very satisfied with it!
